From 8th Dec 2020 – The website crash of 2020
As recorded on the home page due to an unexpected problem in a WordPress update in late November the WordPress element of the site became unreliable with many posts and a significant number of the images being lost. Surprisingly, and in some ways annoyingly, the recovery process did recover what was lost – the surprise the recovered items are most of what was lost back in 2018 when a similar incident occurred.
I have installed a new version to avoid the blank, white screen of death; however, this IS NOT yet using the current format or, as mentioned above, showing the recent content, if, or when, this missing content gets found it will be reposted.
Fixes are being worked on and from time to time there will be temporary outages whilst these are loaded and tested. We apologise for this disruption to normal service.
From 31st January 2020 – Motivation and BREXIT
A new year, in the west and the east, and supposedly a new dawn for the UK brought about by power of the people. Whether or not the post-BREXIT UK starting from midnight tonight will be good or bad we await; I have my own view and it is worrying.
It is also hard to be motivated given the scenarios being prophesied by many who’s views I respect, and that isn’t either Nigel Farage or our Prime Minister. Both are able politicians, if being able is the ability to get elected on the back of popularism; I would prefer my politicians to be strong and do what is right for the country even if that is unpopular.
We must also hope that sufficient action is taken, and quickly enough, to stop the spread of the new Coronavirus. Our sympathies to the Chinese people, and any others too, caught up in this medical emergency.
