Still here – been posting mostly on other media.

A somewhat hectic start to 2024 finally seems to be settling down after family trips back up north and the usual Easter events. One highlight was seeing my granddaughter in the Market Weighton school production of Fame JR.

This update is mostly about model making and model railways. As usual my wife and I did the York Model Railway Show over Easter and I have subsequently done two other more local events.

For the last one the club were debating traverser construction so I dug out my on hold Pebbles End layout. I was gobsmacked to realise it is about 12 years it has been in storage; even more surprised to find it is still in reasonable condition. May well get back to it this summer.

As the WMRA club layout we had out at the open day was Axford I pulled out of storage some of my GWR and Southern stock. A mixed bag, some worked but some had problems which I am currently working on fixing.
45xx Prairie – problem fixed.
57xx Pannier tank – a design fault. Runs well on flat track, catches on any slight discrepancy. Hall class – damaged valve gear – needs a new part (a circlip has come off)
Collett 0-6-0 – wobbles when running – assessment still TBA.
